    Matrix factorizations for nonaffine LG-models

We propose a natural definition of a category of matrix factorizations for nonaffine Landau-Ginzburg models. For any LG-model we construct a fully faithful functor from the category of matrix factorizations defined in this way to the triangulated category of singularities of the corresponding fiber. We also show that this functor is an equivalence if the total space of the LG-model is smooth.Comment: 12 pages, minor corrections of TEX fil

    Derived categories of cubic fourfolds

We discuss the structure of the derived category of coherent sheaves on cubic fourfolds of three types: Pfaffian cubics, cubics containing a plane and singular cubics, and discuss its relation to the rationality of these cubics.Comment: 18 page

    Instanton bundles on Fano threefolds

We introduce the notion of an instanton bundle on a Fano threefold of index 2. For such bundles we give an analogue of a monadic description and discuss the curve of jumping lines. The cases of threefolds of degree 5 and 4 are considered in a greater detail.Comment: 31 page, to appear in CEJ

    Grothendieck ring of pretriangulated categories

We consider the abelian group PTPT generated by quasi-equivalence classes of pretriangulated DG categories with relations coming from semi-orthogonal decompositions of corresponding triangulated categories. We introduce an operation of "multiplication" ∙\bullet on the collection of DG categories which makes this abelian group into a commutative ring. A few applications are considered: representability of "standard" functors between derived categories of coherent sheaves on smooth projective varieties and a construction of an interesting motivic measure.Comment: 33 page

Derived Categories of Coherent Sheaves and Triangulated Categories of Singularities

In this paper we establish an equivalence between the category of graded D-branes of type B in Landau-Ginzburg models with homogeneous superpotential W and the triangulated category of singularities of the fiber of W over zero. The main result is a theorem that shows that the graded triangulated category of singularities of the cone over a projective variety is connected via a fully faithful functor to the bounded derived category of coherent sheaves on the base of the cone. This implies that the category of graded D-branes of type B in Landau-Ginzburg models with homogeneous superpotential W is connected via a fully faithful functor to the derived category of coherent sheaves on the projective variety defined by the equation W=0.Comment: 26 pp., LaTe

The homotopy theory of dg-categories and derived Morita theory

The main purpose of this work is the study of the homotopy theory of dg-categories up to quasi-equivalences. Our main result provides a natural description of the mapping spaces between two dg-categories CC and DD in terms of the nerve of a certain category of (C,D)(C,D)-bimodules. We also prove that the homotopy category Ho(dg−Cat)Ho(dg-Cat) is cartesian closed (i.e. possesses internal Hom's relative to the tensor product). We use these two results in order to prove a derived version of Morita theory, describing the morphisms between dg-categories of modules over two dg-categories CC and DD as the dg-category of (C,D)(C,D)-bi-modules. Finally, we give three applications of our results. The first one expresses Hochschild cohomology as endomorphisms of the identity functor, as well as higher homotopy groups of the \emph{classifying space of dg-categories} (i.e. the nerve of the category of dg-categories and quasi-equivalences between them). The second application is the existence of a good theory of localization for dg-categories, defined in terms of a natural universal property. Our last application states that the dg-category of (continuous) morphisms between the dg-categories of quasi-coherent (resp. perfect) complexes on two schemes (resp. smooth and proper schemes) is quasi-equivalent to the dg-category of quasi-coherent complexes (resp. perfect) on their product.Comment: 50 pages. Derived categories of Burniat surfaces and exceptional collections

We construct an exceptional collection Υ\Upsilon of maximal possible length 6 on any of the Burniat surfaces with KX2=6K_X^2=6, a 4-dimensional family of surfaces of general type with pg=q=0p_g=q=0. We also calculate the DG algebra of endomorphisms of this collection and show that the subcategory generated by this collection is the same for all Burniat surfaces. The semiorthogonal complement A\mathcal A of Υ\Upsilon is an "almost phantom" category: it has trivial Hochschild homology, and K_0(\mathcal A)=\bZ_2^6.Comment: 15 pages, 1 figure; further remarks expande

Semiorthogonal decompositions of derived categories of equivariant coherent sheaves

Let X be an algebraic variety with an action of an algebraic group G. Suppose X has a full exceptional collection of sheaves, and these sheaves are invariant under the action of the group. We construct a semiorthogonal decomposition of bounded derived category of G-equivariant coherent sheaves on X into components, equivalent to derived categories of twisted representations of the group. If the group is finite or reductive over the algebraically closed field of zero characteristic, this gives a full exceptional collection in the derived equivariant category. We apply our results to particular varieties such as projective spaces, quadrics, Grassmanians and Del Pezzo surfaces.Comment: 28 pages, uses XY-pi
